Sometimes Spiders Need Blue Dragons

6th sense. Facebook won’t tell you who is looking at your page. Purity. God teaches us to seek purity. So what happens when you are open, pure, transparent and a snake creeps into your path? Instinct.
Lai, yesterday, when the cat found a little spider walking the wall on the kitchen floor. “GRANDMA!!!!! GRANDMA!!!!!” I jump up, rush to the kitchen and Lai is protecting herself from the spider now less than ten feet from her on the floor. One foot and hand is 3’ off the floor on the kitchen sink cabinet. The other foot and hand is 3’ off the floor on the kitchen cabinet island that’s 3’ from the sink. Lai, my little “trained by Sylvester Stallone’s stunt double from birth” athlete is doing a stunt Mark would be proud of.
The cat has the moving spider trapped against the wall, trying to escape.
“Where’s a paper towel?” I quickly ask and duck into the bathroom and come out with a wad of toilet paper. “Look, here’s how you kill a spider. You get a big wad of toilet paper, like this.” I show Lai the appropriate size. You position it right over the spider like this. Then swoop down fast closing the paper over it and smush hard through the paper. I do and then crack open the paper for Lai to see the spider. “They are hard to kill. You have to smush hard.” I do. Lai is still balanced in the air but watching. The spider doesn’t seem smushed enough to me so I smush some more. Hummm. “If you’re not sure you killed it then just flush it.” I take it into the bathroom while the cat looks intently at her stolen prize following me. FLUSH. “There.”
Lai now comes back down to the floor. The cat is visibly distressed. Lai notices too, “Let’s give the cat a treat!”
Me: “I gave her some of mine I bought for her the other day and she threw it up. Your mom doesn’t want us feeding her. Your mom cleaned it up.”
Lai: “She has a sensitive stomach but she can have two treats per day,” and Lai leads the way and points to the bag above the washing machine.
I get it down off the shelf, the cat hears the bag as I open it and take out two treats and almost goes crazy with anticipation as I hand the two treats to Lai, who heads to the cat’s bowl by the same wall where the spider was, in the kitchen.
Lai takes the opportunity to make the cat do a trick to earn the treat. Kneeling by the cat bowl Lai says, “SIT.” No response. “SIT.” The cat is having none of that and is now just as eager to capture the treat as it was for the spider so Lai gives in and gives the treat to the cat.
“GOOD Cat,” I say, “”That’s your treat for finding the spider.” Lai repeats the cat praise and emergency over I go back to my room and my book.
A spider (or maybe a snake) showed up last night reading my Facebook stories.
A name I didn’t recognize was figuring out who I am, it was my Bio post he was interested in. Not the next post, his name wasn’t on any others. For Stories Facebook gives in and lets you know. Usually it’s fine and fun, even strangers are interesting most of the time. But my Spidey-sense went off full alarm blast. I clicked on the man’s name and profile and blocked him so fast I didn’t even take time to look at his page. I simply swooped over him with a wad of toilet paper and swooped down. BLOCKED.
My alarms were STILL going off. So I smushed him some more. I had grabbed his name before swooping. I went to my Texas Tales page, searched his name, found him, blocked him. I still knew nothing about him yet, this was fast, like we’d killed the spider. He was still smushed in my wad of toilet paper but I could just sense he wasn’t dead.
I unpublished Texas Tales. I limited my past posts here. Nothing is public now. Go check. Gone. Spider sense still alarming… I unpublished my website, trembling, couldn’t do it fast enough. Smush, smush, die Spider. There. All purity and transparency tucked safely away behind an iron wall. Sometimes you have to flush them to know they’re really dead.
I went to find out who he was AFTER blocking him. My block is still up. That’s why my profile pic is a blue cute dragon right now. When my 6th sense quits going off you’ll see my stories come back on my page set to public and in my Story where normally I love seeing which friends watch what. I’ll just hit publish on Texas Tales and my website.
I figured out he was an European musician, older, discontent and complaining when 2020 hit the world and affected his ability to perform in small French or maybe Spain cafes with his DJ type table and old music albums. I figured out which friend we had in common.
Not enough to tell me what kind of spider.
So I went to my Bible phone app set to Hosea 2 at this moment. God talks to me. God gives us protection: intuition, instinct, 6th sense. Listen to it. Trust it. Protect your purity and transparency. They are gifts. But kill spiders and if you’re not sure then throw the wad of toilet paper they are half-crushed in down the toilet and flush.
Hosea 2 was about coveteousness.
