We've been having fun, lately, with Laileigh's 5 year old boy cousin, Laik, (pronounced Lake) who comes to visit. Laileigh (pronounced Lay Lee) is my 7 year old granddaughter. Here's an example...
Laik: "Miss Angel, can you please RENAME your van?"
Angel (totally surprised): "You don't like the name, "Swan?"
Laik: "I just want a different name..."
Angel: "You mean, like a boy name... how about "Godzilla"... how about "Terminator"... Oh, I know, how about "MEGLADON!"
Laik: "YES YES YES MEGLADON!!!"
So, a bit later,
Angel: "Laik, do you want to show your mommy my van?" (I had let him explore it earlier, when he asked.) Laileigh and I call our adventures, "Adventures in Swan." She loves our van, as do I. We also LOVE the name, lol.
Laik: "YES!" So, everybody goes outside to the driveway. I unlock "Swan" and Laik begins his tour, just like he had toured it himself a couple of hours earlier. We start with the front seat. "This is where Laileigh sits," he points out. Then he climbs into the back and I open the side door and invite everybody in. "It's just like a little house, see!!! You can SLEEP in it!!!"
Then, after all have explored "Swan" and we are all standing in the driveway with Laik about to leave...
Angel (to Laik's mommy): "This is my 4th "Swan." I've had 4 vans I named "Swan." But, just for Laik, it is also, NOW, my first "MEGLADON." My granddaughter looks at me sideways, not liking this new twist... So, I say, "But for Laileigh and ME and everyone else, it is still "SWAN."
As we are walking away Laik actually HUGS "Swan" and kisses my van and says, "Bye Megladon."
