A Friday Night Train Wreck; God's Beautiful Yin/Yang

This week’s episode of “Texas Tales from a Lone Star” can be watched on my website. It is a 30 minute episode of when Gabriel came to Austin and I rented a private practice room at Guitar Center in Austin for us, with a drum set. I took my white Ovation Adamas acoustic guitar and filmed Gabe playing drums with me on my original songs. It’s pretty much a train wreck. It shows why Gabe and I never performed together in the same band. He asked me over and over through the decades. But even in this episode it is clear WHY we never did (well rarely). Gabe’s drumming is primarily Classic Rock and Death Metal. I considered him to be the top drummer in Central Florida and I knew the musicians because I went out as a Singer/Songwriter for 12 years and also to my Classic Rock/Metal musician boyfriend’s hundreds of gigs. Bax was the best. Gabe was the best. My opinion. I know. SO this episode shows WHY Gabe and I never successfully performed together.

My songs are SLOW. They are THINKING songs. They are DEEP. The focus is on the LYRICS. The style is my soft, country, folk, beautiful voice singing personal songs about walking with God. God was leading me, as always, and he had led me to Bax and Gabe for his own reasons. Yin/Yang, read my books and stories. SO Gabe is sweet and trying as hard as he can to slow down and listen to me as I play my original soft folk songs. He successfully drums to my beat, a fraction of his capabilities. But it is funny to me because it is such a waste of his skill and talent. Yet from the viewpoint of what is occurring, polar opposites helping each other, it is priceless and rare. Then I sit there on my stool in our room at Guitar Center, with Gabe behind the drums, and interview him. Then we show you his REAL drumming skills.
