Lai’s Lavender White Guitar
🎼🎵 I bought my Granddaughter Lai (Lay as in potato chips lol) her first guitar, pink, when she was one. Then a white one 3 strings, then a white one 4 strings. “Lai, what’s your favorite color?” “Why?” “…I probably shouldn’t say.” “SAY it!” “Well I was thinking we should buy you a real guitar, your other ones are real but you’ve grown.” “Look how big my hands are.” I do. “I was looking at guitars for you just now. What would your favorite color be for a guitar?” “Lavender.” I’m thinking Martin, Taylor, Ovation but shallow body, her size. Maybe a lavender case would satisfy… “We need to make flash cards, like mommy did for her nursing school, and let you practice chords. There’s lots of chords but you really only need less than ten to start off. You can play lots of songs then.” “Now!!! Let’s do it right now!!!” “Ok.” So we do.
Later… “Lai, show mommy, what’s this chord?” “Em.” “And this?” “A.” “… D … E” We drew them on flash cards just like this. xo
