Monster Boots, Silver Hair, & Wireless Mics

Funny not only was this the first band (referring to the Metallica "Enter Sandman" video below) my former boyfriend, Bax, ever introduced me to, (um, wrong Angel, remember it was Morbid Angel, THEN Metallica, THEN Megadeth, THEN...) I went to gig after gig where he performed this song better than anyone in Florida, same for Gabriel. Makes me laugh to read this. Lol.  Dave Mustaine's framed 8"x10" was on our wall, Victor Wooten notes filled our air and Billy Sheehan's signature bass was playing them... My stories of Gabe with Morbid Angel's frontman and Molly Hatchet's founder are on my website... I fought with Bax because I wanted to go with Gabe on his European tours. I should have gone anyway. Oh and see my shared video of Paul playing guitar up on the bar in downtown Austin? That was the scene I witnessed from my boyfriend, Bax, multiple times in Orlando. We bought him a wireless mic so he could run from the stage, out the door, around the bar, and back in through the crowd, while blasting his Classic Rock bass notes without pause... When he wasn't playing on top of the bar he was slapping the crowd with his bass notes and amazing talent, wearing a Matrix Neo black trenchcoat, all in black, always, and wearing what we called his "Monster Boots" (think Kiss) and we never could get his long brown hair the right shade of silver we were after, but got platinum blonde close and his red sunglasses, indoors, on stage. All this is partially why I'm trained to document what I do with Texas Tales from a Lone Star in Austin, Texas "Live Music Capital of the World."

PS This occurred BECAUSE I had made a VOW to God to NOT listen to a note of 80s Rock Music and had kept that vow perfectly for two decades. I love long hair and androgynous features on a man, so I was protecting my faith and myself. I had kept that vow SO perfectly that when God said, "Ok, now pick one of your unblemished sheep and sacrifice it," meaning something I had perfected while following God, I picked Classic Rock music. God wanted to teach me the power of sacrifice and vows, and some other really cool lessons. He matched my life to the scriptures I was retranslating every hour of every day for a decade in Orlando. Bax looked at me constantly in sheer amazement, "I've never met anyone who missed an entire decade of Classic Rock before. What do you MEAN you've never heard "Sweet Child o' Mine" or "Guns N' Roses..."

The video that prompted this post is "If your mama knows all the lyrics to this song then be careful cause she's a thug." Metallica's "Enter Sandman." HERE

Since today's short-story, "Monster Boots, Silver Hair, & Wireless Mics," is about my former boyfriend, Bax, in the sunglasses, always all black, and playing the bass on the far left, when we were in Orlando, I thought a visual would bring home what I wrote. By the way that is Allen Michael in the middle, lead vocals, and Rick Plester, far right on the lead guitar and if you think Austin professional local musicians get better than this then you are mistaken. Take a peak, sorry about the blown sound, just turn it down, what you are watching is their ease and SKILL. xo Angel (I'm referring to a video in my "Texas Tales" section of my website, just go look for it.)
