Easter Egg Hunt at Andy & Lana’s Ranch...getting ready

Angel (at the grocery store): “Let’s pick out our Easter stuff for Andy’s ranch tomorrow!”

Laileigh (my 6 year old granddaughter, who has been visiting our friends Andy & Lana since she was 3 months old; also, who has been taking her guitar to play with me in Andy’s music circles since she could walk): “I want to get something special for Lizzy!” (Lizzy was a friend of theirs 10 year old daughter, she met at the ranch 3 years ago & who was playing her own ukulele; she helped Lai learn to play her own uke/guitar)

Angel: “Lizzy may not be there so don’t get too disappointed if she’s not. I did ask Andy to invite her for you. Regardless, we can see the chickens!”

Laileigh: “The chickens!!! I want to get Lizzy a guitar. She’d like a guitar.”

Angel: “That’s too big. I was thinking we’d pick out something special on the Easter egg row. Here it is, let’s just walk the whole row and see everything and then come back where we are now. Andy said “don’t buy chocolate.”

Laileigh: “If I want chocolate then I get to decide!!!”

Angel: “It’s Andy’s ranch, so he decides. Chocolate melts in the hot sun.”

Laileigh: “Peeps!!! I want Peeps, pink AND purple.”

Angel: “Ok but they are for home, not for the ranch. And remember, the eggs we buy are going to be found by other kids. So don’t think they are all yours. Let’s pick out eggs for THEM.”

Laileigh (mulling that over…then a smile): “Ok. We pick some pretty, shiny ones and some sour candies to go in each one. We buy tape to tape the eggs shut. "Bubbles! I'll buy this big purple bubbles for the other kids and this pink bubble wand for me and this green bubble wand for Lizzy. If Lizzy isn't there, I'll have two bubble wands."

Laileigh saw Andy pick up his guitar to sing so she got hers and walked up beside him, at his ranch. Her first guitar, pink.

When we arrived we figured out we were a week early. Andy wasn't even there! So we hid our eggs, with Lana, anyway!

Laileigh blew her bubbles...

And found all 24 eggs...

Lana showed Laileigh the horses...

And the goats & chickens...

And let her ride in the side-by-side!
